2010 whale season begins

While some await it expectantly, maybe to watch the giants travel up the coasts of Australia and America to breed in the warmer northern waters, other awaited it anxiously: the beginning of the 2010 whale season.

With it begins the battle between environmentalists and whale hunting nations such as Japan, Norway and Iceland. Amid international outcries, some nations still hunt the magnificent creatures in large numbers, taking out significant numbers of humpbacks, southern right whales or minke whales.
